I genuinely do not care how complex the software is, I've used a lot of complicated video editing software so I should be able to get to grips with anything. I'm not sure if it will make a difference, but I'm most interested in making drum and bass/electro tracks.
If anyone has any tips on top of a piece of software that'd be brilliant. Really hoping to make something of this! What software would I need to start making music?

There are many options, and they are all capable of what you want. Reason, Ableton, FL Studio, Sonar, Logic, Cubase, etc...
I use FL Studio Producer Edition myself. It's not too hard to learn but has tons of advanced features. It has a superb piano roll, automation support, audio recording and editing and lots more. You can use VST plugins and samples to get any sound you want, it's great for electronic music.
